COVID-19 Testing Supplies at NFN Health Services

NFN Health Services continues to provide contact tracing support and now has COVID-19 testing supplies available for NFN member households.

Rapid Antigen Test Home Kits

UPDATED February 9, 2022: Due to additional supplies becoming available, we have expanded the eligibility for Rapid Antigen Test kits to include NFN member households in the local area (not just on-reserve households).

A limited supply of ‘Rapid Antigen Test Kits’ for members to take at home is now available for NFN member households. Call ahead and provide your name, address and status number to reserve a test kit for your household.

A Rapid Antigen Test, also known as a rapid test, directly detects the presence or absence of an antigen including the virus that causes COVID-19. Rapid tests usually give results in 5 to 15 minutes and are simple to use.

Eligibility for NFN Home Rapid Test Kit

  1. Household of registered NFN member
  2. Residing in Nipissing First Nation or in the local area
  3. Able to follow instructions provided and self-administer the rapid test

Maximum is 1 kit per household address

The pick up location for the Rapid Antigen Test Home Kits is the Lawrence Commanda Health Centre at 58 Semo Road, Garden Village.

Call Richard McLeod at (705) 753-3312 ext. 6971 to reserve a kit.

Please provide your name, address and band number when calling or leaving voicemail. If the supply runs out we will take names for a wait list as we are expecting more kits to arrive.

Kits will be distributed for those who meet eligibility requirements in the order of the date and time the call was received.

OneID Tests at the Health Centre

Starting February 1st, 2022, the ‘One ID Rapid Tests’ are available weekdays between 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm at the Lawrence Commanda Health Centre at 58 Semo Road, Garden Village.  The One ID Rapid Test provides a result in about 15 minutes but requires a machine to complete.  These tests are available to local NFN member households, as well as eligible NFN employees.

Eligibility for a NFN One ID Rapid Test

  1. Household of registered NFN member; or
  2. NFN employee not participating in the NFN Employee Testing Program; and
  3. Have symptoms of COVID-19 or were exposed to someone with COVID-19

Members who prefer this test must be able to attend an appointment at the Lawrence Commanda Health Centre at 58 Semo Road. However, home visit services can be arranged for NFN seniors living in NFN.  Once the testing swab is placed in the machine, test results are ready in 15 minutes.

Call Meagan Hester at (705) 753-3312 ext. 2240 to book a rapid test at the Health Centre.

NFN Health Services will continue to support contact tracing for as long as possible to help keep our community safe. If you have symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 or are a high-risk exposure to a positive case, please call 705-840-8830 and speak with the Community Health Nurse if you have any questions or require guidance.
