Garden Village Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

Update May 27, 2022: The start of this project was postponed due to the Carpenters’ Union strike, which began in early May. The Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario has announced a tentative agreement has been reached and a vote is taking place today across the province. If the agreement is ratified, work on the Garden Village water treatment plant could begin as early as Tuesday May 31st.

Residents are advised that there will be disruptions with extra truck traffic and construction noise as these long-awaited upgrades are completed to improve water quality, quantity and fire protection services in the community. Miigwech for your patience.

Work begins May 1st and will take approximately 18 months to complete

The construction of the expansion to the existing Water Treatment Plant in Garden Village on Gerald Crescent will begin May 1st.

The work is expected to take approximately 18 months.  Cecchetto & Sons Construction from Sudbury was selected as the Contractor.

We are looking forward to this expansion to our existing Plant as it will improve the water quality, fire protection and long-term water quantity as the drilling of additional wells is part of the project.

We regret there will be disruptions along the way with extra truck traffic, construction noises, etc. as the construction proceeds, but the project will benefit the community in the long term.
