Community Notice: Recent opioid overdoses in Nipissing and Parry Sound

Friday, March 14, 2025 – Between February 23 and March 8, 2025, there have been ten reported opioid overdoses across the districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound. Tragically, three of these incidents resulted in fatalities.

Of the ten overdoses, six involved fentanyl, a powerful and dangerous opioid. Naloxone, a life-saving treatment for opioid overdoses, was administered in all six cases.

This warning serves as a reminder to stay vigilant and informed about the risks of opioid use in our community. If you or someone you know is at risk, please seek help and resources immediately. Naloxone kits are available at The Right Path building (316 Ted Commanda Drive, Garden Village) or the Lawrence Commanda Health Centre (58 Semo Road, Garden Village).

If you use opioids:

  • Start with a smaller amount
  • Call 911 if your high feels unusual
  • Don’t use drugs alone – use with someone you trust
  • Pick up free Naloxone and drug testing kits at The Right Path

We urge everyone to remain cautious and to report any suspicious activity. Together, we can help protect our community.
