Community notice: Stay safe around water – Watershed Conditions Statement (Flood Watch) in effect

April 30, 2025 – The Ministry of Natural Resources – North Bay District is warning residents that a Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Watch is in effect until Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.

The statement is in place due to the potential for flooding in the Upper Ottawa River/Mattawa area and Tomiko River region. There is a low-risk impact to the Nipissing First Nation (NFN) territory. NFN members should exercise caution to protect their property. We urge residents to stay alert, especially around lakes, rivers, and streams, and be cautious of dangerous conditions. Keep children and pets away from water, and stay informed as the weather changes.

Weather forecasts are calling for multiple rounds of rain from Thursday into Friday, with approximately 45 mm of rain expected. Daytime temperatures will remain above zero, while night-time lows may drop below freezing on Wednesday and Friday.
