Animal Control Notice

A new Animal Control Officer began duties in April to support community safety and responsible animal guardianship. The Animal Control Officer responds to animals at large, manages impoundments (when required), addresses by‑law violations, and provides education on responsible pet ownership.

Reminder: Domestic animals (cats and dogs) cannot run at large in any NFN community, as per NFN’s Animal Control By-Law.

  • No person (owner) shall allow any animal to run at large. Running at large is defined as an animal found in any place other than the premises of the owner of the animal and not under the immediate, continuous, and effective control of any person.
  • An animal must be held on a leash by a person capable of restraining the animals’ movements or on a leash which I securely affixed to some permanent structure from which the animal cannot escape.

For animal control assistance, please contact the Animal Control Officer at 705-471-6844.
