April 4, 2025 – The Crisis Control Group (CCG), activated by Nipissing First Nation on March 24, 2025, is responding to a recent spike in overdoses, including two deaths, caused by an unsafe drug supply. The CCG consists of directors and key organizational leaders who respond to community emergencies.
To address this, we are working with community leaders and health professionals to take immediate action. We’re increasing harm reduction supplies, deploying an outreach van, and enhancing our peer support programs. The CCG meets weekly to explore further training and partnerships, using community feedback and overdose data to guide our efforts and protect our citizens.
Community Fires
Join us for community fires every Wednesday and Sunday from 3-6 p.m. behind the Right Path building (316 Ted Commanda Dr., Garden Village). These fires are open to everyone – whether you’re directly affected, have family or friends impacted, or just want to connect. It’s a chance to build relationships with community leaders and staff, learn about important teachings, and support each other.
