Friday, November 29, 2024 – On the evening of November 27, 2024, Nipissing First Nation lost a tremendous leader and former Chief, Marianna Couchie-Baa. Marianna-Baa served on the NFN Council for a period of 12 years – three as Deputy Chief – before assuming her role as Chief for nine years, from 2006-2015. Her countless efforts and accomplishments in education, environmental protection, and beyond will always be remembered. All Nipissing First Nation offices will be closed from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, to allow NFN staff to attend the funeral of former Chief Marianna Couchie.
