March 21, 2025 – The Ministry of Natural Resources – North Bay District is warning residents that a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety is in effect until Friday, March 28, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
The statement is in place due to high water flows and melting ice, which could be dangerous for people near water. While flooding is not expected, we want to remind everyone to stay alert and keep children and pets safe around lakes, rivers, and streams. Always supervise their activities near water and ice.
A series of weather systems have brought rain and snow to our area. This weather and changing temperatures will cause snow and ice to melt, increasing the flow in streams and creeks. It may also make ice unsafe and cause unstable shorelines.
If you live in a low-lying area prone to flooding, please monitor local conditions and prepare accordingly.
