The Robinson Huron Treaty (RHT) Past Annuities Settlement resulted in approximately $618 million to Nipissing First Nation (NFN). It was decided, by way of a vote, that 25% of that amount ($155 million approximately) would be allocated to a collective fund. This fund is intended to benefit both current and future debendaagziwaad.

Based on the feedback received throughout the community consultation process and research presented, Council has decided to develop a restricted fund to hold the collective funds. In addition, they have decided that an ad hoc steering committee be formed to support the development of the restricted fund.

Committee positions
NFN is seeking registered NFN members, aged 18 years or older unless otherwise noted, to fill the following positions:

  • 1 On Reserve seat
  • 1 Off Reserve seat
  • 1 Elder/Senior seat – 55+ years of age
  • 1 Youth – 16-29 years of age
  • 1 Member at Large

Required competencies

  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and policy development
  • Professional experience in finance or policy development
  • Experience working with committees/boards, demonstrating effective oversight
  • Commitment to align with the goals of the Collective Fund and NFN
  • Proven ability to make strategic decisions, manage conflicts of interest, and communicate effectively

Steering Committee meetings will be held twice a month for approximately 10 months. Committee members will be paid an honourarium of $150 per meeting they attend.

Interested NFN members shall apply by providing the following information:

  1. Letter of Intent
  2. A current detailed resume
  3. Any information or documentation that demonstrates required competencies
