The unofficial results of Nipissing First Nation’s vote on the Anishinabek Nation Governance Agreement (ANGA) indicate that Nipissing did not meet the minimum required threshold of eligible voters, nor the minimum 25%+1 “YES” votes (595 votes) required to ratify the agreement.
The official results of the vote will not be available until after the 10-day appeal period has passed. On March 11, we will communicate the official results and what the next steps will be.
Unofficial results show that 8 First Nations of 14 running the vote had more YES votes than NO votes. These results are under review now by Canada and Anishinabek negotiators.
